A St. Clair Shores woman charged with killing and dismembering her son and leaving his body parts in St. Clair County will get a new lawyer.

Sixty-year-old Donna Scrivo will get a court appointed attorney after Elias Muawad withdrew as Scrivo's counsel today.

Scrivo is charged with first-degree murder and dismemberment of her 32-year-old son, Ramsay Scrivo.

Bags containing Ramsay Scrivo's body parts were found in St. Clair and China townships in late January.

Muawad said he was retained by Scrivo following her district court arraignment.

He said Scrivo no longer has funds to continue to retain experts for her defense.

Scrivo — who was arraigned before Macomb County Circuit Judge Richard Caretti today — is scheduled to return to Caretti's courtroom at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 for a pretrial conference.
