April ethanol, DDGS exports down on month

U.S. ethanol exports were down in April.

The Renewable Fuels Association says the total of 125.7 million barrels was 5% below March, but Canada was the top destination for the 25th month in a row, taking in more than a third of the volume. The European Union, India, South Korea, and the United Kingdom rounded out the top five.

Exports of distillers dried grains with solubles were 777,617 tons, 13% less than the previous month, primarily to Mexico, South Korea, and Indonesia.

For the year to date, U.S. ethanol exports are 479.8 million barrels, 17% behind 2022 and the slowest January to April pace since 2016, with cumulative DDGS exports at 3.21 million tons, 13% under a year ago and the most sluggish start to the year in a decade.

The RFA says there have been no meaningful U.S. ethanol imports since December of last year.
