Scattered rain and replanting headline Iowa Crop Report

Isolated rain and scattered reports of replanting headline the latest weekly crop update for Iowa.

The USDA says the replanting of corn and soybeans was limited, and that nearly all planting activities are finished.

Corn emergence is more than a week ahead of the five-year average, but the condition of the crop declined five percentage points on the week to 72 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans are 87 percent emerged, nearly two weeks ahead of normal, with 70 percent considered good to excellent.

The first cutting of alfalfa is more than three-quarters done, and farmers continue to spray for weeds.
