Illinois Department of Ag hosting agrichemical container recycling program

The Illinois Department of Agriculture is encouraging farmers to demonstrate their environmental stewardship by participating in a free agrichemical container recycling program this summer.

In July and August more than 35 locations across the state will serve as collection sites for high density polyethylene #2 plastic agrichemical containers that will be recycled to make shipping pallets.

Participants are responsible for rinsing containers and removing all caps, valves, metal, labels and foil seals. Mini-bulk and Intermediate bulk containers will be accepted but have special preparation instructions.

The Agriculture Container Recycling Council, GROWMARK Inc., Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association, G. Phillips and Sons L.L.C., Illinois Farm Bureau and University of Illinois Extension are also partners in the program.

For further instructions, collection sites and dates contact the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
