Jana Kramer engaged to boyfriend Allan Russell after 6 months of dating: 'It just felt right'

Jana Kramer has found her happily ever after, and it's a perfect goal.

The country singer and "One Tree Hill" alum revealed her engagement to former soccer player Allan Russell during a Thursday episode of her "Whine Down with Jana Kramer" podcast.

"I've had a few things that I have been not talking about because (I) just want to do it when I'm ready, and so I've got an announcement today," Kramer said. "Allan and I have been dating for six-and-a-half months, and he asked me to marry him."

As for how Russell popped the question, Kramer said the proposal took place during a pool party when the couple and Kramer's children broke away from the gathering for a stroll to their new house. While sitting on the house's front porch steps, Russell got down on one knee to propose to Kramer.

"Jolie just started jumping up and down," Kramer said of her daughter's reaction to Russell’s proposal. "It's like she knew what was happening."

Kramer added that the proposal's setting at the couple's future home made the occasion extra special.

"We just both started crying, and it felt very sentimental given the front porch of the new house and new beginnings. It just felt right," Kramer said. "We were actually supposed to be in Jamaica, but something happened with the resort so we ended up staying here, but honestly that is exactly what I would have wanted."

Russell reflected on the engagement and his relationship with Kramer in an Instagram post Thursday.

"A forever with you just feels right and has done since the day I met you," Russell wrote. "I’m proud to call you my fiancée and cherish every minute we spend together. I love you my little warrior."

Kramer’s engagement follows her recent split from former NFL player Mike Caussin. The couple filed for divorce in April 2021 after six years of marriage.

Kramer said she had previously spoken with Caussin about the seriousness of her relationship with Russell. "(Mike) already knew that (Allan) is my partner whether we get married or engaged or whatever," she said.

Kramer and Caussin married in 2015 and share two children: daughter Jolie, 7, and son Jace, 4. The 36-year-old football veteran has a history of infidelity. In 2016, the couple separated after it was revealed Caussin had been cheating on Kramer. The two later reconciled and said they were working on their marriage.

Kramer said her ex-husband reacted positively to her engagement news.

"He was like, 'Hey, I'm really happy for you. Allan's a great guy,' " Kramer said. "I started to cry 'cause he goes, 'Of all people, you deserve to have someone that loves you and respects you, and you deserve this after everything I put you through.' … And it meant so much to me that he said that."
