Los Angeles Angels' Double-A affiliate loses 7-5 despite throwing seven-inning no-hitter

The Chattanooga Lookouts defeated the Rocket City Trash Pandas 7-5 Saturday ... without recording a single hit. 

It doesn't seem possible, but it happened. 

The Trash Pandas, Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, tossed a seven-inning no-hitter, but they still managed to lose the game after yielding seven runs in the top of the seventh inning. The damage was done via five walks, four hit batters, a run-scoring wild pitch and a dropped fly ball on the potential final out, with the bases loaded. 

Things were going fine for Rocket City when 22-year-old Coleman Crow exited with a 3-0 lead after six innings. He had struck out six and walked two against the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. 

Ben Joyce, a 2022 third-round draft pick, came in for the top of the seventh and he promptly walked his first two batters, induced a popup and walked a third. After getting a strikeout for out No. 2, Joyce allowed a run with his fourth walk.

It appeared he was going to get out of the jam and preserve the win in the first game of the doubleheader when he got Jose Torres to fly to center. However, Jeremiah Jackson, a 2018 second-round pick, dropped the ball for an error that scored three runs, giving the Lookouts a 4-3 lead. 

Eric Torres, a 14th-round pick from 2021, took over from there and hit three consecutive batters to make the score 5-3, Chattanooga. Torres allowed another run via a four-pitch walk, then threw a wild pitch that increased the Lookouts' lead to 7-3. He hit another batter before an inning-ending strikeout.

Rocket City got two runs back in the bottom of the seventh inning to provide the final margin.
