LANSING — More wet weather is likely this weekend in mid-Michigan, and there's a marginal risk of severe storms on Friday afternoon and evening in the Lansing region, forecasters said.

Rounds of showers and storms are likely to roll through the area from overnight Thursday through Saturday morning, with the best chance for isolated, severe storms coming later in the day on Friday, the National Weather Service said.

Heavy rain, 1 to 2 inches, is expected across southwest and south-central Michigan. The best chance of severe weather will be south and west of a line from Muskegon to Jackson, the weather service said.

Hail of up to an inch in diameter and damaging winds are possible with the stronger storms. Forecasters said they can't rule out an "isolated weak" tornado.

Lansing is likely to get up to an inch of rain. Wind gusts from the south and southwest could exceed 35 mph on Friday. Saturday will be windy across the region, with gusts of 40 to 55 mph likely, forecasters said.

Friday will be warm as well as wet, with highs in the lower 60s, cooling off to the mid-40s on Saturday, the weather service said. Sunday was expected to be sunny and a little warmer, with highs of around 50 degrees.
