Police: 15-year-old driver, 14-year-old passenger injured in SUV crash near Haslett

An unlicensed 15-year-old was behind the wheel of a sport-utility vehicle when it crashed Tuesday afternoon northeast of Haslett, injuring the driver and a 14-year-old passenger, police said.

WOODHULL TWP. — An unlicensed 15-year-old was behind the wheel of a sport-utility vehicle when it crashed Tuesday afternoon northeast of Haslett, injuring the driver and a 14-year-old passenger, police said.

The older teen was driving a 2009 Hummer south on Shaftsburg Road, near Braden Road, when it left the roadway and rolled, the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office said in a Wednesday afternoon news release.

The driver was taken to Sparrow Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger had minor injuries.

Police did not say whether the injured teens were male or female and released no other details about the incident, which remained under investigation.
