Candlelight vigil for missing Eaton boy planned Thursday

EATON, Ind. — A candlelight vigil is planned Thursday in honor of a missing Eaton boy.
Scottie Dean Morris, 14, has not been seen since he left his family's home about 8:30 p.m. on March 16.
Thursday's vigil is set to begin at 7 p.m. at 301 E. Harris St.

Several churches in the Eaton area — among them Grace and Mercy Full Gospel Church, the local United Methodist Church, the Church of God, Eden Church and the Eaton Baptist Church — are hosting the event.
Eaton police, meanwhile are urging members of the public to be responsible in online discussions about the situation.

Police warn against making accusations online
As efforts to find Morris continue, some have shared theories online about what might have led to his disappearance. Some of those comments have bordered on accusations.
"We ask that you please refrain from making false statements and allegations," the police department posted Tuesday on Facebook.
On Monday, volunteer Curtis Little of Albany, participating in search efforts along the banks of the Mississinewa River, referred to the online commentary.
"We can do the second-guessing and that stuff later," Little said. "We just need to find that young man."

While search efforts of the Eaton area by volunteers and emergency responders concluded Monday, efforts by authorities to find the missing teen are ongoing.
Further inspection of the area along the river has continued.
Indiana State Police, other law enforcement working with Eaton Police Department
Eaton police are consulting with Indiana State Police, the Delaware County Sheriff's Department, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and a "federal organization" about the next steps to take in their investigation.
On Tuesday, Eaton residents tied green ribbons, to utility poles and elsewhere, in a tribute to the missing boy, who is a student at Delta Middle School.
