Funding available to help conservation investments

Funding is available for Missouri farmers interested in starting or expanding conservation practices.

Clayton Light Director of Conservation Agriculture and Farm Operations with Missouri Soybeans says the Inflation Reduction Act provided more money for at least two conservation programs available through the Natural Resources Conservation Service: the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP).

“If you’re interested in cover crops, this is a good time to do it. There should be funding out there to capitalize on cover crops.”

Light tells Brownfield more cost-share opportunities should become available in the next five years. Farmers can learn by contacting their local Farm Service Agency or NRCS office.
