Iowa farmer comes to terms with higher input costs

A southwest Iowa farmer says adapting to higher input costs is becoming the norm.

Dave McGargill says the cost of production continues to impact his operation. “Our expenses are terribly high,” he said. “That just keeps trending upward.”

He tells Brownfield lower fertilizer prices have helped provide some relief. “We did finally get some anhydrous bought for spring supply,” McGargill said. “It did come down off its highs.”

McGargill says diesel prices will be another concern this year. The national average price of diesel is $4.31 per gallon, according to AAA.

  • Supply and demand ( Manufracturers)
Have all agreed to sustain the MSRP of all products at todays high prices of goods paid by customers thus making them a large profit
By not over producing products in all.
And create a ordering by mail ahead and not stocking equipment on the lots nor parts that sit on lots and shelves that cost money.
They have controll of supply and demand.
Don’t expect this manor to change.
