Fox News' Tucker Carlson is spinning a new conspiracy arguing that the Jan. 6 insurrection never occurred. The conservative host's remarks were made during his Monday night segment of "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on March 6.

At one point during the broadcast, Carlson aired surveillance footage from the Jan. 6 riots as he posed his argument. According to HuffPost, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) granted Carlson access to more than 40,000 hours of surveillance footage which he cherry-picked over to get his point across.

“Taken as a whole, the video record does not support the claim that Jan. 6 was an insurrection,” Carlson said. “In fact, it demolishes that claim.”

On Jan. 6, former President Donald Trump's mob of angry supporters muscled their way past Capitol law enforcement, ransacked lawmakers' offices, and assaulted officers. The news outlet also noted that of "more than 1,000 people arrested in connection with the attack, 326 have been charged with assaulting, resisting or impeding officers or employees."

Despite all of the unrest that transpired during the hours the U.S. Capitol was stormed by angry Trump supporters, Carlson chose pieces of footage that conveyed a quieter atmosphere that day.

According to Carlson, those who attended Trump's rally were "peaceful," "orderly and meek."

“The crowd was enormous,” Carlson said. “A small percentage of them were hooligans. They committed vandalism. You’ve seen their pictures again and again. But the overwhelming majority weren’t. They were peaceful. They were orderly and meek. These were not insurrectionists. They were sightseers.”

Per the news outlet, Carlson also claimed that Capitol Police was responsible for murdering rioter Ashli Babbitt although she attempted to break into a room near the U.S. House of Representatives chamber. And while there was nearly $3 million in damages following the Capitol riots, Carlson argued that they didn't mean to do what had been done.

“They’re not destroying the Capitol,” he said. “They obviously revere the Capitol.”
