Murder mystery March

March is apparently the month for murder mystery events in Franklin County. Three organizations will host interactive whodunits.

Prohibition killed: On March 12 at Rough Edges Brewing Co. in Waynesboro, guests will solve a 1920s speakeasy murder. Presented by Off Center Events, each person will be assigned a character to play along as, and everyone will be encouraged to work together to figure out whodunit. One ticket includes a character role and one beer. Lunch will be available before the event, which runs 3 to 5:30 p.m. Get tickets, $40, via Eventbrite at bit.ly/3xHc1kl.

Dead men tell no tales? The murder mystery event on March 25 at Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg will focus on a pirate, Capt. Clyde P. Riddlesbrood, who needs your help to find a buried treasure before the British catch up to him. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best pirate attire, and prizes will be awarded for the best male and female costumes. The doors will open at 4 p.m., followed by a dinner buffet at 5:30 and the show at 7:30. There will be a cash bar. Admission is $55/person and proceeds benefit Homeless Matters of Franklin County. The Roaring '20s will be the theme of a murder mystery whodunit on March 25 at The Barrel House in Chambersburg. The event will start with a themed meal from local chef Wes Gingrich at 6 p.m., followed by the murder mystery presented by Colleen Tidd Productions. Guests are encouraged to come in costume for the opportunity to win a prize. Get tickets, $60, at bit.ly/3YXqC6W. This is a fundraiser for the Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance.

Bingo for the WIN

Play bingo to support Women in Need of Franklin and Fulton Counties on March 26 at Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 in Chambersburg.

The doors will open at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon, and bingo will start at 1. There will also be fishbowls and a door prize drawing.

“The first bingo fundraising event last year was popular,” said Executive Director Barb Channing. “We were able to raise money for WIN, but it was also a great time for the community. We are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.”

Tickets are $25. You can buy them online at winservices.org/event/win-bingo-2023/, or call 717-264-3056.

All proceeds will benefit WIN, a nonprofit organization that works to support, educate and empower victims of domestic and sexual assault. Its services include a 24-hour hotline (717-264-4444), counseling, support groups, an emergency shelter and legal advocacy. Learn more at winservices.org.
