Wisconsin lawmaker reintroduces machinery lemon law bill

Wisconsin farmers may soon have a lemon law that covers farm machinery.

Assembly Bill 14 was introduced Tuesday by State Representative Paul Tittl of Manitowoc.  If passed, owners or lessors of implements of husbandry can have the manufacturer or dealer correct defects that substantially impairs the machine’s use, value, or safety.  If the same problem exists after four attempts at repair, or if the machine is out of service for an aggregate of at least 30 days, the consumer would be entitled to a replacement or a full refund.

Wisconsin unsuccessfully tried to pass a lemon law for machinery in 2019.  The new bill has been referred to the Assembly Consumer Protection Committee and is also co-sponsored in the Senate by Andre Jacque.

  • Please do. My tractor has been in the shop for over 9 months. No help from the dealer or manufacturer. I have no recourse!
