Standing up to 'demons': Lauren Boebert appears to take a jab at Kevin McCarthy during church appearance
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) recently took a verbal jab at House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
According to Business Insider, the far-right lawmaker made the remarks during her recent appearance at the women's conference held in Dallas, Texas over the weekend. At one point during her speech, Boebert suggested that she was being used by God to stand up "to demons."
Boebert also said that those "demons" include a "speaker of the House."
"Ladies, I know you are on fire for God," the Colorado lawmaker said.
"God is using you in mighty ways. Maybe he'll have you ball up your fists, and stand in front of some demons — maybe a speaker of the House," Boebert said as the crowd erupted in laughter.
When the audience settled down, Boebert continued with remarks along the same line saying, "I also stood up against Nancy Pelosi so nobody knows what I really meant there, for the record, when they try to put this in print."
Although Boebert didn't specifically name McCarthy, she was one of the 20 far-right lawmakers to aggressively push back against his bid for Speaker of the House. In fact, it took a total of 15 consecutive ballots for McCarthy to finally seal the deal due to lawmakers like Boebert obstructing his effort.

Boebert's latest remarks come just months after her previous controversial comments at a religious conference. Back in September, the far-right lawmaker insisted that it was "time for us to position ourselves and rise up and take our place in Christ and influence this nation as we were called to do." She also warned of the world approaching its "last days."
At the time, Andrew Whitehead, co-author of the book "Taking America Back for God: Christian Nationalism in the United States," weighed in with his take on her remarks as he claimed she embodied Christian nationalism.
"Citing the end times really does feel like a call to action and a rallying cry in some sense," Whitehead said. "A lot of that end times imagery is associated with violence and rapture and descending into chaos societally."
