Above average temperatures and precipitation ahead for much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures from the Pacific Coast to the High Plains, while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail along and east of a line from the Dakotas to the Mississippi Delta.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation in the West should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions in most areas east of the Rockies.
