Grassley frustrated with EPA’s E15 delay

A U.S. Senator from Iowa says the oil industry is holding up the Environmental Protection Agency in allowing some states to sell E15 year-round.

Republican Chuck Grassley says he’s frustrated the EPA has failed to write E15 regulations as required by the Clean Air Act.

“Whether you have a Republican or Democrat Congress, you tend to have Big Oil infiltrating their ideas into the EPA and getting too much consideration,” he said Tuesday.

He says there’s not much Congress can do to press EPA on the issue.

“Just your traditional foot dragging of bureaucrats and government generally, particularly the EPA on ethanol issues,” Grassley said.

Attorneys General from seven Midwestern states recently sent a letter to the EPA expressing frustration that the agency is hundreds of days past the 90-day deadline to publish E15 regulations.
