One killed in head-on crash in Franklin County

Correction: Waynesboro man Brandon Rock, 43, died Jan. 27 after a Chevrolet pickup truck being driven by Wesley Hurd turned north onto Wayne Highway and collided head-on with the southbound minivan Rock was driving, according to Pennsylvania State Police. A previous version of this story misstated the roles of the drivers.

A Waynesboro man was killed in a head-on crash on Friday in Quincy Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Brandon Rock, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, police said.

The crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. at Wayne Highway (Pa. 316) and Five Forks Road. Rock was driving a Plymouth Voyager south on Wayne Highway when a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Wesley Hurd, of Waynesboro, pulled out in front of him from Five Forks Road to travel north on Wayne Highway, according to police. The vehicles collided head-on.

Hurd, 67, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.

The police report states Hurd's primary violation was failing to stop at a stop sign, but police are investigating.

No charges or citations against Hurd appeared in Pennsylvania's online court docket system as of the morning of Jan. 31.

Waynesboro Fire Department, Mont Alto EMS, the Franklin County coroner and Abe's Auto assisted police at the scene.
