[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I find the new palette of colours in Hourglass Unlocked Satin Creme Lipstick somewhat understated. They’re all in a neutral led group and I see how that taps into the style forward audience they’re looking to attract, but on the other hand I was really craving for something more vibrant and frivolous. In terms of texture, gosh, I have nothing to criticize – they’re dreamily sleek, as weightless as a creme formula can be (you always feel an element of the oils and waxes) and the pigment is next level. All my swatches are one swipe so although they’re £38 a pop, if you only ever need to go around the once, they’re going to last.

I love the quirky tilt on these – at first I thought maybe they won’t stand up on their own in which case, photography will be an absolute nightmare, but as you can see, they do. They’re also magnetic (not as fiercely so as the elf ones I featured last week which were absolute devils to chase about) and it’s a very nice, smooth click. It made me think of closing a fancy car door – just something quiet, seamless and smooth about it.

One of the things I’ve really noticed about Hourglass is that the lipsticks often swatch far differently to the shade you’re expecting from looking at the bullet, so I’d suggest that you always ensure that you have seen swatches before buying. From bottom to top: Fauna, Daliah, Larch, Sahara and Roar.

And in the same order here. The satin finish is nicely juicy without being glossy as such, comfort in the wear is high thanks to mango seed butter, avocado oil, and argan oil.

In this picture I’m wearing (L) Red and (R) Larch. Are any taking your fancy? Oh, don’t forget they’re fully vegan including Red which has a carmine alternative, patent pending. You can find them HERE (I’m sending you to Selfridges as they seem to have the full compliment of shades).
