[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Well, well – look who turned 20! To celebrate the anniversary of Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, Elemis has created a rose version for more sensitive skin types. No matter if your skin isn’t delicate – anyone can use it but the gel cream formula is extra light and built to be soothing.
I remember this actually launching – we were obsessed with it! It was in every magazine practically every month and because when it launched on-line shopping hadn’t really started, we’d have to pray that any spa we visited used Elemis and we could stock up there. Eventually, Elemis expanded from spa to include beauty counters and of course, onto QVC and pretty much anywhere on-line. If you didn’t know the days when on-line shopping wasn’t a thing, it would be hard to understand how covetable these products were and how much we relied on print (and phone shopping – when I was writing beauty features we always had to include a land line phone number as well as a stockist name) to steer us towards the good stuff. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is one of the few moisturisers that has really stood the test of time.
It’s a lush, glossy cream that leaves skin feeling silky and flexible – the addition of rose is an ideal pairing with the texture. You get a nice rush of sweet and fresh rose upon opening the pot that gradually dissipates when on the face. I mean, you don’t want your face to smell of roses all day, right? I don’t, at least. A point of interesting information is that Elemis harvests the roses for the hydrolat on warm and dry days, then leave them on a white sheet for 24 hours giving any insects and bees to crawl or fly away. Noted ingredients include padina pavonica, chlorella vulgaris and ginko biloba.

A quick shout out once more for my beloved Elemis Frangipani Monoi Glow. I used it last night and was reminded (again) that I think it’s the best body scrub out there. The grains are just right, the texture is on the good side of sloppy so you don’t need very much, the smell is just divine and lasts on the skin for ages. Normally £45, I found it HERE for £36.

I have been using this forever and remember when they had the white packaging and the extra special silver packaging. The scrub is gorgeous a real treat, I buy from Q now as best prices however not sure if it hasn’t devalued the brand somewhat.
I remember that packaging too Val! I used to love their Papaya Enzyme Peel (if they still do it). Yes, I see it occasionally on QVC and the discounts are remarkable – not sure why anyone pays full price. x

Looking at GNPD, I see we picked up the Marine Cream in the US in 2003, priced $124. So, using historical exchange rates, that would have translated to about £70.

I saw the Elemis newsletter mentioning the rose version the other day and was silently praising and cursing them at the same time as I medically need the rose cream to go with the rose cleansing balm I use! It’s on my list for when I need to stock up on moisturiser and will use my John Lewis vouchers.
They do still do the papaya enzyme peel and after an Elemis facial last year I also got into their dynamic resurfacing gel mask – really great effects on me so I can’t really begrudge the price as their normal sized pump lasted me a year of regular use then I managed to snag a salon size one at a bargain price.
I think it’s a brand where you really can find bargains (QVC for a start) and stock up that way. I must try the PEP again – one of their original products and still one of the best IMO.
My secret is to use the PEP on my feet during a pedicure it’s amazing around toes! For some reason I started to react when using it on my face it caused me eyes to go red raw despite not applying it near them so I had to diversify
