United States Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) made an appearance on right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' InfoWars show on Thursday to reassure her voters that her support for and cooperation with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California) does not mean that she has evolved as a lawmaker.

Greene was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and was one of the most prominent deniers of President Joe Biden's victory over former President Donald Trump. Her now-two-term tenure has been defined by her alignments with fringe elements within the Republican Party and QAnon as well as her embrace of radical policies, through which she wound up becoming a powerful member of the conservative populist movement.

Greene and McCarthy did not start off as allies, however. Greene was kicked off of the House Budget and Education and Labor Committees a month after she was sworn in for making outlandish statements that were widely viewed as racist and antisemitic. Yet it was McCarthy's willingness to entertain Greene's brand of politics that fostered a relationship that ultimately helped him get elected speaker – albeit following fifteen rounds of voting across four days. Consequently, Greene's coziness with McCarthy has triggered outrage among her most extreme constituents, many of whom are fans of Jones.

On Thursday, Greene made a pitch to clear the air.

Jones:

Well, I'm going to try to give you the floor. What do you want to tackle first, the agenda or what happened last week with McCarthy and the way forward here?

Greene:

Well, I can just make it real short and sweet and let everyone know that, that the person you see right now is no different than the person you've known over the past two years. And the reason why I didn't oppose Kevin McCarthy's speakership, because I knew there was no plan against him, because no one else was truly running for speaker. And I was also already on board with the agenda that he had set forth and that many of us had worked with him on.
