Woman dies in Waynesboro after being struck by a vehicle on New Year's Eve

A 61-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle on New Year's Eve in Waynesboro.

Franklin County Coroner Jeff Connors on Tuesday referred questions about the victim's identity to the Waynesboro Police Department. Police said Wednesday that information wasn't yet being released.

The police were dispatched to the crosswalk at West Main Street and Mulberry Street at 7:45 p.m., according to an online police report. Main Street, between Church to Potomac streets, was closed for an extended period of time while the incident was investigated.
