A county bus hit a pedestrian Friday afternoon on the city's north side, a Milwaukee County Transit System spokesperson said.

MCTS says the incident took place at North 30th Street and West Lisbon Avenue on Route 57 with the bus traveling east around 4:40 p.m.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital and was responsive on the scene, MCTS said.

The driver and passengers onboard were not injured, according to the transit system.

The driver was placed on administrative leave, per policy.

According to MCTS, "The driver was going slow due to weather conditions. A pedestrian who was not walking in the crosswalk was struck by the bus." A winter storm system brought ice and snow to southern Wisconsin throughout the day.

MCTS referred all further comment to the Milwaukee Police Department, who were not immediately available for comment.
