Eastern Iowa farmers pleased with 2022 crop year

The 2022 harvest was favorable for some farmers in eastern Iowa.

Benton County farmer Lance Lillibridge tells Brownfield he had one of his best corn crops ever.

“I don’t know how we could ever ask for anything better,” Lillibridge said. “It’s really hard to complain with a mouthful.”

Scott County farmer Mike Paustian says yields were below expectations, but they still had an above average crop.

“I was anticipating that we would see more uniform yields across all parts of the field than normal,” Paustian said. “But we still seemed to have a lot of that variability that you normally see. It just wasn’t showing up from a plant health standpoint during the growing season.”

Both growers said subsoils need to be replenished for the 2023 growing season.
