Rustic, Glam Christmas Family Room

Holiday decor with pine garland on mantel

Let the Christmas decorating begin!!

My black Friday was spent here in the family room, giving the final touches of Christmas decor to the shelves and coffee table.

This year's theme of rustic, glam decor kind of unfolded all on its own after decorating the Christmas tree.

Year after year I kept on drooling all over those awesome Christmas trees that I saw on Pinterest and blog land because they looked so pretty darn real. Well, this was finally the year for me to indulge in one of those beautiful artificial noble fir Christmas trees and I'm loving it!

The blinking lights, the needles, its openness, and how easy is to connect the sections when assembling it, made me wonder why I didn't buy it sooner. It looked so pretty all empty that it even crossed my mind to leave it like that, with only the lights shining on.

Oh well, I changed my mind, but overall I kept it uncomplicated, and I might say that this Christmas tree is my favorite part here in the family room.

Little Christmas tree ornament

The little wooden stick Christmas tree ornaments that I crafted out of a garland were the jumping-off point on the tree.

I stuck to mainly three muted colors throughout the entire room: Gold, rust/brown, and light wooden tones.

The tree was decorated with only ball ornaments, little golden stars, wooden stick tree ornaments, and plenty of bows.

The water hyacinth Christmas tree collar was a happy find at Aldi's. It comes in four parts that you connect to form the entire ring. I like that it doesn't take up much space to store, but what I liked the most was the price, only $15.

Satin ribbons in the same color as the ornaments were used to tie the presents.

More presents were arranged under the coffee table, and on top of it, this cute golden deer keeps guard.

Right by its side, a bowl of pinecones adds texture to this vignette.

The other element in this room that I'm enamored with is the mantel.

I went for this asymmetrical garland which is something out of my comfort zone, as symmetry is a bit of an obsession for this gal.  Somehow I made it work and I like it a lot.

The garland is composed of two different artificial garlands. Here again, I made another little investment by buying a set of "real touch Norfolk pine" garlands from Afloral.  All I have to say is that they are the most real-looking garlands I've ever owned! They aren't cheap, and at this moment they're sold out, but I can see myself using them and re-using them around my home for years to come.

The other set of garlands is a needle pine garland that I bought a few years ago. The little stars were also added here on the mantel where they shine even more.

The shelves also got some holiday decor which I kept very neutral.

I love this view when looking from the kitchen. All the little lights make it look so magical.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this tour of our holiday family room.

Have a great day!
