Project would make diesel and jet fuel from manure

A Wisconsin dairy farmer is planning to convert manure into diesel and jet fuel.

Wisconsin Dairy Alliance member Larry Dufek owns Dairyland Farms east of Green Bay and is a producer for Land O’ Lakes.  The family dairy is working with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on the nation’s first biogas refinery that would convert manure and food waste to liquid vehicle fuel.

Dufek’s 3,000-cow dairy uses several technologies to reduce its carbon footprint, including a manure digester that captures methane.
