South Dakota farmers make harvest gains

Harvest is ahead of normal in South Dakota.

USDA’s latest weekly crop report says with nearly a full week suitable for fieldwork, soybean harvest advanced to 30 percent.  The five-year average is 25 percent.

Corn harvest is 15 percent done compared to 10 percent normally.

Winter wheat planting is right on schedule with almost 70 percent of the crop in, but emergence is slightly behind at 26 percent.

South Dakota farmers are also in line with average on the harvest pace of sorghum and sunflowers.
