Harvest begins today for southeast Wisconsin farmer
A southeast Wisconsin farmer is starting corn harvest today.
Andy Wyse grows 100% non-GMO corn, soybeans, winter wheat and alfalfa outside of Neosho, an area that he says had good weather this growing season.
“We didn’t start until about the 8th of May this year because it was wet, but once we were able to run, we got everything in the ground in really good shape. We’ve had timely rains, lots of sun and plenty of heat units.”
He is hopeful for an even better crop than last year.
“Last year’s crops were really good, we averaged over 200 bushels per acre dry on corn which is great for this area and this year it looks like we could do even better. Our beans averaged 60 bpa last year and I believe this year they will be better than that.”
He expects soybean harvest to begin in 3 or 4 days.
