A high-priced attorney in former President Donald Trump's legal defense team is being "sidelined" in one of the many investigations into Trump's alleged misdoings following his departure from the White House.

According to a CNN report on Tuesday, Christopher Kise – for whose counsel Trump's Save America Political Action Committee shelled out a whopping three-million-dollar retainer late last month – "is not leading the work related to the federal government’s investigation into how the former president handled 11,000 documents seized from his Florida home in August following a lengthy effort by the government to retrieve them."

Kise, who served as Florida's solicitor general from 2003-2006 under then-Republican Governor and current Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist, "was brought on to the team after a weeks-long search and struggle to find someone willing to take on the case who was also experienced in Florida law. The legal strategy for fighting the Justice Department following the August seizure of over 100 documents marked as classified was also in disarray," CNN explained.

Taylor Budowich, a spokesperson for Trump, told CNN that “Chris Kise’s role as an important member of President Trump’s legal team remains unchanged, and any suggestion otherwise is untrue.”

CNN pointed out, however, that Kise is also not involved in the United States Department of Justice's criminal investigation into the January 6th, 2021 Capitol insurrection, and that the reason for his diminished role is "unclear" at this time.
