Harvest slightly behind normal in Iowa

More than 60 percent of corn in Iowa has reached maturity.

USDA’s latest weekly crop report says while development is slightly ahead of normal, harvest is a little behind the five-year average at five percent complete.

Soybean harvest reached seven percent as of Sunday, four days behind last year and three days off the usual pace.

The third cutting of alfalfa hay is basically done, and pasture condition is rated 34 percent good to excellent.
