Republican United States Senate candidate Herschel Walker of Georgia completely misrepresented the events of September 11th, 2001 during an appearance on Fox News on Sunday, which marked the 21st anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attacks in American history.

Despite then-President George W. Bush's ill-fated decision to respond by invading Afghanistan and Iraq, and although 15 of the 19 hijackers who crashed loaded commercial airliners into the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania were citizens of Saudi Arabia, no foreign state was singularly responsible for the deaths of nearly 3,000 people on that fateful Tuesday morning.

But that is not the narrative that Walker, whom former President Donald Trump endorsed early in his gaffe-riddled campaign, shared with host and Trump loyalist Maria Bartiromo.

"Well you know you gotta pay tribute to the 9/11 victims, you know, but also you saw America come together. You saw America come together because this country was uh, you know, it was, uh, on the war with a country that didn’t believe in us," Walker said to Bartiromo.

He added that "right now we have, uh, leaders in Washington like [President] Joe Biden doing venomous speeches that doesn't believe in America people."
