Shippensburg schools were locked down and residents were asked to stay inside Friday afternoon while police looked for a man who they said could be armed, according to Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson Trooper Megan Frazer.

Police searched for William Lewis, 32, in the Borough of Shippensburg near Roxbury Treatment Center, Frazer tweeted. She said just after 5:30 p.m. that he had been found, about 2 1/2 hours after first alerting the public to the search.

Residents were warned that he may be armed and to not engage him. Frazer said state police were working with schools in Shippensburg to "assist/escort the students and busses during dismissal."
