Brownfield Ag Weather Today

The interaction between a weakening cold front and the Southwestern monsoon circulation will continue to generate rain across the South.  In addition, a low-pressure system over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico will drift northwestward, with limited opportunity for development before reaching northeastern Mexico on Saturday.  Nevertheless, the low-pressure system should add to the pool of tropical moisture over the southern U.S.  As a result, 5-day rainfall could reach 4 to 10 inches in parts of northern Texas and southern Oklahoma, possibly extending into northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas.  A broader area, from Arizona to the southern Atlantic Coast, should receive 1 to 4 inches or more.  In contrast, mostly dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days in the Pacific Coast States and the northern and central Plains.  In the Midwest, scattered showers could result in 1- to 2-inch totals.
