Indiana Farm Bureau is the 2022 recipient of the Indiana State Fair Harvest Award.  The award recognizes an individual, organization, or company that has made a significant contribution to the growth of the state fair.

Randy Kron is president of Indiana Farm Bureau.  “We’re trying to build future leaders for agriculture,” he says.  “We try to educate our members.  We had an announcement last year of the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion, which some will call the Swine Barn.  But, it’s a multi-purpose, year-round showcase for the state fair.”

He tells Brownfield the state fair is an opportunity to make connections with consumers and help them better understand Indiana agriculture.  “Because, sometimes, I think it’s just lack of communication and understanding what we do and why we do it,” he says.  “Our partnership gives us an avenue to have that communication.”

Proceeds from the Harvest Dinner support the Youth Development Fund, which benefits Celebration of Champions and 4-H youth participating at the State Fair.

Past winners include DOW AgroSciences (now Corteva Agriscience), Purdue University, Mauri Williamson, Andre B. Lacy, and Jane Ade Stevens.
