Sinless Sweets, a gluten-free and vegan bakery, will open its new storefront on Thursday, September 8. The store, which is located at 5009 S. Western Avenue in Sioux Falls, will also include a bistro menu and both indoor and patio seating.

It took owner Maggy Pickner awhile to figure out what she wanted to do in life, she said, but she finally found it through her love of baking. The venture began when she and her sister started brainstorming with recipes after the two of them had to change their lifestyles and diets for health reasons.

Pickner then started her business in October 2021 out of her apartment, selling custom cakes and other baked goods that are all gluten-free and vegan.

"I really wanted to share with others who are struggling with the same things we're struggling with," Pickner said. "People will be able to have food they haven't eaten in a very long time, and that's what's really exciting."

Sinless Sweets owner Maggy Pickner operated her custom-order bakery business out of her apartment, but now she is opening up a storefront in Sioux Falls this August.

Pickner will sell baked goods like cakes, cookies and other special treats at the store each week, and breakfast items will feature overnight oats, toaster pastries and cinnamon rolls.

There will also be ready-to-go lunches of sandwiches, salads and pasta salads, and Sinless Sweets will start serving hot meals for dinner at 3 or 4 p.m. with a new meal every day. The dinner menu will include dishes like stuffed shells, lasagna and alfredo.

"Basically, it's stuff you don't want to make yourself," Pickner said. "And I've found it's better to work with what people are wanting rather than just what I want."

One thing Pickner's been getting a lot of requests for is fresh-baked bread, which will also be available every day.

Sinless Sweets owner Maggy Pickner has held several pop-up shops this summer selling her gluten-free and vegan baked goods.

The store will have wifi and a Keurig for people to use while they "chill out" or do their work there, Pickner said.

She plans to buy the pasta she'll be using in bulk and then sell it so customers can make their own dishes with good-quality noodles, and eventually, she will hold baking classes at the store each month, she said.

Opening a storefront has been in the works for some time now, Pickner said. Over the summer, she's been selling baked goods and pastas at pop-up shops in the meantime.

"It took a lot longer than expected, but we got to where we wanted to be," she said. "I'm excited to finally be open. And my family has been my biggest support helping me get through everything."

This gluten-free and vegan pasta from Sinless Sweets features Tahini and sun-dried tomato sauce.

For now, it will be just her and her family working at the store, but Pickner will look at hiring more help around the holidays.

The first 20 people at the grand opening will receive a free goodie bag that contains items from Chelsea's Boutique and One Smart Cookie; both businesses are owned by Pickner's sisters.

Sinless Sweets will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturdays.
