Arkansas crops: soybeans and cotton rated 71% good to excellent

Crop conditions continue to show late-season improvement across Arkansas.

Soybeans are rated 71% good to excellent, with 90% setting pods, and 11% coloring.  Cotton is rated 71% good to excellent with 98% setting bolls, and 5% of the bolls are opening.  The rice crop is rated 79% rated good to excellent, 57% of the crop is headed.   Peanuts are rated 84% good to excellent with 99% pegging.  Corn harvest is underway with 1% of the crop harvested, 84% of the crop is dented, and 39% mature.

The second cutting of hay is 82% complete, and 8% of alfalfa hay is rated good, a slight improvement on the week. Vegetables are 66% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture was 51% adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture was 55% adequate to surplus.
