Oxford High School graduate Madeline Johnson adds to a shrine made from toys set below the Capitol steps, Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, during the "No Guns at Recess" rally in Lansing. Each toy was meant to symbolize the death of a student due to gun violence. Johnson lost her best friend Madisyn Baldwin during the Oxford High School shooting last year that killed four students and injured six others and a teacher. She'll be a freshman at Oakland University this fall, and says the tragedy has impelled her to consider a career in public policy.
