Timely rains continue for eastern Iowa

Eastern Iowa farmer Lance Lillibridge says his crops are looking above average and have benefited from decent weather this year.

“In my neck of the woods, we’ve gotten pretty timely rains,” he said. “When we started getting a little dry, we’d get a half inch or an inch of rain. Our hay crop has been phenomenal again this year.”

He tells Brownfield some parts of the state haven’t been so lucky. “You don’t have to go too far – some places a little to the north, out east, down to the south, and out west – there are some severe droughted areas.”

Lillibridge farms near Vinton in Benton County.
