Description

Hey there,

My name is Michael and I am the creator of the foodi blog, Robust Kitchen.

We're currently looking for an experienced food writer who has sufficient experience in the kitchen to write some of the more technical kitchen gadget articles.

Here are the 3 types of topics the applicant will be covering...

1) Technical Kitchen Gadget Topics (most common)

These articles will be addressing popular kitchen tech questions that require in-depth knowledge and obsessive researching skills. We're looking for the details that other websites miss.

Examples:
"18/10 Stainless Steel Pans - Hype or Superior Pan Material?"
"Cocotte vs Dutch Oven"
"Parts of a Knife - Functions Explained"

2) Kitchen Gadget Review (Single Product) (least common)

We test the product, put all the data together and send it over to you to compile into a comprehensive, yet digestible article. Once trust is established (and you're willing), we can start sending you products to test and write about yourself.

Examples:
"Chefman 8QT Air Fryer Review"
"Mueller Long Slot Toaster Oven Review"

3) Kitchen Gadget Review (List of Products)

This is where we list out the best products of their kind. While we'd love to personally review all the products of the category, it's just not possible. So we do the next best thing by conducting as much research as possible to find, and justify, the best kitchen products on the market.

Examples:
"Best Pans for Cooking Fish"
"Best Red Toaster Ovens"
"Best Cupboard Pan Organizers"

Language/Writing Style
-Conversational tone
-High readability
-Ability to take complex concepts and make them digestible to an audience of all different experience levels.
-We really love writers who can interpret questions that naturally come up in the readers mind, and subsequently answer those questions.

Experience Required
-Must have work experience as a cook/chef
-If you have no work experience, exceptions can be made for avid home cooks (you'll just have to prove yourself)
-2+ Years experience writing

Article Frequency
-Varies depending on the month
-At the least, 2 per month
-At the most, 8 per month
(the more you impress us, the higher this number will become over time)

Article Length
-Highly variable
-Some will be as short as 800 words, some as long as 6000.

Pay
-We start at $20/hour
-After rapport is established, you will be given a raise to $25/hour (usually after 2 articles or so).
-We've already given 2 of our writers raises past this point within 4 months.
-We prefer hourly since most of this job is research.

What We Need From You Now
-Please plead your case as to why you are the right candidate for the job.
-Please attach any of your food-related writing that reflects the skills we're looking for (if you don't have food-related writing, feel free to include other topics that expose your talents).
-Please Include the phrase "Kitchen Kat" at the very beginning of your response.
-Please write a 100 word response as to why understanding kitchen tech has made you a superior cook.
