'Go ahead': Anthony Fauci dares Republicans to investigate him
Dr. Anthony Fauci, now 81, has worked in the United States’ federal government under a long list of Republican and Democratic presidents — most recently, as President Joe Biden’s top White House medical adviser. Fauci was never considered controversial in the past, whether the president was Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush or Barack Obama. But during the COVID-19 pandemic, MAGA Republicans developed an intense disdain for the veteran immunologist — and some far-right MAGA Republicans have promised Fauci-related investigations if they regain control of Congress in the 2022 midterms, including Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio.
Fauci discussed those possible investigations during a Tuesday, July 26 interview for NewsNation’s “Rush Hour.” And his attitude, in essence, is: “go ahead” and bring it on, as he has nothing to hide.
Fauci told NewsNation, “I’ve testified before Congress a little more than 250 times over the last 38 years. I have no trouble testifying. When they say they’re going to investigate…. everything about me, all the records, are out there. Every one of my e-mails practically have been FOIA’d, through the Freedom of Information Act.”

Another Republican who has promised to investigate Fauci if the GOP regains control of the U.S. Senate is Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky. But Fauci, during his NewsNation appearance, didn’t appear to be worried about a subpoena from Paul or any other Republican in Congress.
Fauci told NewsNation, “If they’re going to investigate me, I’d like to ask: Investigate me for what? For telling people to get vaccinated? For telling people to wear a mask? For telling people to abide by common sense, good public health practices?”
In June, Fauci tested positive for COVID-19, but he had only minor symptoms and has since recovered.
