Mother Nature pummels Nebraska with another round of severe weather

A Central Nebraska farmer says he’s assessing storm damage for the third time this growing season as Mother Nature has dealt another blow to producers.

Clay Govier of Broken Bow says several corn fields have green snap after straight-line winds whipped the area Saturday night. “Boy, it sure did some damage to the corn.  There was a little bit of hail with the wind, but it doesn’t take very much hail when it’s 90 mile-per-hour winds to strip things up.”

And, he tells Brownfield, there is other widespread damage. “I did hear some more pivots were flipped over. Some grain bins were lost.  On our farm, we didn’t lose much for physical infrastructure.”

Severe storms moved through that area in May, which caused farmers to replant and another hit in June.
