Clouds, cooler weather today

Steady rain on track for Thursday

PORTLAND, Oregon — Portland hit 78-degrees Tuesday, tying April  2 for the warmest day of the year so far.  Cloudiness and a wave of cooler air will hold valley temperatures in the 60s today.  A mainly dry day is expected, but traces of rain will be possible near and north of Portland and likely around Astoria.

Rain sets in Thursday and highs will suddenly only be in the 50s.  Futurecast shows steady rain all day tomorrow, starting early morning.  Look for 1/2 inch of rain in Portland and possibly 3/4 of an inch along the coast.  Snow levels will hold near 4,500 to 5,000 feet.

While there will be breaks in the rain at times Friday and this weekend, timing is uncertain and wet weather should be expected.

The Northwest stays in a generally cool, wet pattern through next week.  Snow levels may dip below Cascade passes Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday.
