Rudy Giuliani: 'It would have been perfectly legitimate' to ask Donald Trump for a pardon
Former President Donald Trump's television attorney Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday reflected upon ex-White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson's revelation that he asked Trump for a pardon after the January 6th, 2021 insurrection.
Giuliani lost his license to practice law and is entrenched in multiple lawsuits stemming from being a prolific promoter of Trump's Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen.
But Giuliani is maintaining his innocence – and loyalty to Trump.

“Everybody in Washington wants to make me a liar and a crook, and I’m not. But I know I have to protect myself. Now, I could’ve asked for a pardon for a very good reason, because I don’t want to get framed. I know I didn’t do anything wrong. I know I don't act like they do," Rudy said on his Common Sense podcast, referring to Representatives Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland) and Adam Schiff (D-California). "I don’t lie like Raskin and Schiff."
Both men serve on the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.
Rudy, who has refused to testify before the bipartisan commission, is also upset with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) and President Joe Biden.
"I don’t take money like Pelosi and Biden and their families. I spent most of my life putting crooks like them in jail and I’ve acted honorably all my life," Giuliani insisted.
Giuliani then asserted that Biden, Pelosi, and other unspecified Democrats "frame people" and that "I know people they framed."
No further information was provided.
"So it would have been perfectly legitimate to ask for a pardon, not because I'm guilty of anything, but because they're gonna try real hard to make me guilty of something I didn't do like they tried to do with President Trump," Giuliani said.

"They're gonna try to charge him for that," Giuliani added of possible Trump indictments, "which is why he should have pardoned himself – not because he committed a crime, don't you understand me? Because these people are criminals. They frame people."
