Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A pipeline of moisture, linked to the Southwestern monsoon circulation and enhanced by a frontal boundary draped across the Midwestern and middle Atlantic States, will support frequent showers and locally severe thunderstorms from the western Corn Belt to the middle and southern Atlantic Coast.  Additional rainfall could total 1 to 3 inches or more from eastern Nebraska to the central and southern Appalachians, with higher amounts (3 to 5 inches) possible in the coastal Carolinas.  A gradual push of cooler air will accompany and follow the rain, which should end across the Midwest on Friday and shift into the Southeast during the weekend.  In contrast, mostly dry conditions and blazing heat will prevail into next week across the south-central U.S., with 100-degree temperatures occasionally extending as far north as South Dakota or Nebraska.  Hot, mostly dry weather will also cover the West, except for monsoon-related showers in the central and southern Rockies.
