MO crops see mixed progress

Missouri’s crop conditions mixed under drier but cooler than normal conditions.

USDA says corn silking has passed 10 percent, about half the average. Corn is rated 65 percent good to excellent, down four percent on the week.

Missouri soybean planting is about wrapped up. Nearly 90 percent of the crop has emerged, that’s on pace. Soybeans are rated 56 percent good to excellent, down three percent on the week.

Missouri cotton squaring is past half done and is now ahead of pace. Missouri cotton is rated 63 percent good, up three percent on the week.

Rice condition in the state improved to 71 percent good to excellent.

Missouri’s winter wheat harvest is ahead with 88 percent of the crop out.

Pasture conditions in the state dropped sharply last week but are nearly all fair or better; 44 percent rated good, and two percent rated excellent. Ground conditions are much drier than the prior week; topsoil moisture is 41 percent short and 49 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture is 30 percent short and 63 percent adequate.
