Crops are behind in southwest Minnesota

Crop development is behind in southwest Minnesota.

Chris Hill of Brewster says he didn’t start planting until May 5th, but he and other farmers in the area were finished by Memorial Day.

“For the end of June, beans are behind. The corn is behind also, but if we get some good weather and some timely rains the crop still has good potential.”

He tells Brownfield a lot of farmers are spraying and weeds are behind just like the crops are.

“We’ve had a couple good days (this week) to get some work done and people really hit it hard.”

Hill says quite a bit of hay is being put up right now too.
