The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol tweeted after the conclusion of its sixth hearing on Tuesday that unnamed individuals whom they have interviewed may be victims of witness tampering by former President Donald Trump and his associates.

"We commonly ask witnesses connected to Trump whether they have been contacted by anyone attempting to impact testimony," the Select Committee shared on Twitter. "Below are examples of answers we have received to this question."

The statements read:

What they said to me is, as long as I continue to be a team player, they know that I'm on the team, I'm doing the right thing, I'm protecting who I need to protect, you know, I'll continue to stay in the good graces in Trump World. and they have reminded me a couple of times that Trump does read transcripts and just to keep that in mind as I proceeded through my depositions and interviews with the Committee.
[A person] let me know you have your deposition tomorrow. He wants me to let you know that he's thinking about you. He knows you're loyal, and you're going to do the right thing when you go in for your deposition.

Who would you vote for in 2024, Biden or DeSantis? Vote now.

Select Committee member Representative Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland) was blunt.

"It's a crime to tamper with witnesses. It's a form of obstruction of justice," he said. "The Committee won't tolerate it."

Those declarations, however, are not the only instances of potentially criminal intimidation by Trump and his loyalists.

On Tuesday, Trump lashed out at ex-White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson during her explosive testimony before the Committee.

"I hardly know who this person Cassidy Hutchinson, is, other than I heard very negative things about her (a total phony and "leaker"), and when she requested to go with certain others of the team to Florida after my having served a full term in office, I personally turned her request down," Trump wrote on his Twitter-knockoff Truth Social app.

"Why did she want to go with us if she felt we were so terrible?" Trump continued. "I understand that she was very upset and angry that I didn't want her to go, or be a member of the team. She is bad news!"

Another possible example occurred in an angry Monday night fit directed at Meadows, coup architect John Eastman, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California), Congressman Mo Brooks (R-Alabama), and Stop the Steal organizer Ali Alexander.

"Tomorrow, the Very Unselect Committee, led by RINO Liz (who needs a better hairstylist!!) and her fellow radical Democrats, is holding another witch hunt on tv," Trump seethed on Truth Social. "Whatever is on John Eastman's phone is totally FAKE (planted by Nancy Pelosi and The FBI!!!), and Mark Meadows better not testify against me tomorrow, and if he does, it's all a fat lie. He was a lousy Chief of Staff of always wore too much cologne, just like Mo Brooks and Ali Alexander. Instead of watching this ratings disaster, everyone should watch the movie 'Catch Me If You Can' starring Leonardo DiCaprio. That's a much better piece of fiction! Remember, Trump is much smarter!"

Given that witness tampering is a serious federal felony, social media erupted late Tuesday afternoon.

One prominent voice that highlighted the significance of these developments was Meadows' predecessor Mick Mulvaney.

"Cheney's closing is stunning: they think they have evidence of witness tampering and obstruction of justice. There is an old maxim: it's never the crime, it's always the coverup. Things went very badly for the former President today. My guess is that it will get worse from here," he said.

Mulvaney was not alone.

Some demanded that investigations be launched into the matter.
