Chambersburg-area Wendy's to hold grand reopening celebration Saturday

The Wendy's restaurant at 1658 Lincoln Way East near Chambersburg is set to hold a reopening celebration on Saturday. 

Festivities are set to begin at 9 a.m. outside of the restaurant with a ribbon-cutting taking place at 10 a.m. Doors to the restaurant will open at 10:30 a.m.

According to Tricia Alfaro, marketing manager for the Wend American Group that owns the franchise, the first 100 people in line who make a purchase will receive a card that entitles the customer to a a free sandwich, salad or breakfast biscuit with another purchase at that store. 

To qualify for the food card, recipients must be at least 16 years old, and be present in line when the store opens.

The remodeling, which stared at the beginning of April, features brighter dining areas with multiple seating options, including private booths, lounge seating and a Wi-Fi bar. New Coca-Cola Freestyle beverage dispensers were also installed, allowing customers to customize their drink choices with flavors and other options.

Alfaro said the restaurant fully closed for four days during the process and that the rest of the time the restaurant continued service through the drive-thru while interior renovations took place. The restaurant reopened on May 20.

The newly renovated Wendy's location is part of Wend American, the fifth-largest Wendy’s franchisee, operating 192 restaurants across five states and Washington, D.C. It is part of Flynn Restaurant Group, which also operates 441 Applebee’s, 286 Taco Bells, 133 Paneras, 370 Arby’s, and 941 Pizza Huts, making it the largest restaurant franchisee in the US.
