Watch: Trump-opposing GOP group releases scathing ad urging Americans to tune in for the Jan. 6 hearings
An anti-Trump Republican organization is releasing a public service announcement-style ad urging Americans to tune in for the upcoming House Select Committee hearings on their investigation into the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
According to HuffPost, the Republican Accountability Project, a Conservative-run political organization strongly opposing former President Donald Trump, has released a new ad supporting the bipartisan hearings. Their support comes as Fox News has vowed not to air the hearings scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 9.
"A lie drove the attack,” the ad states. “Now, it’s time to learn the truth.”
Per HuffPost, the organization has also shared details about the ad's broadcasting schedule confirming that it will "run on TV during local news as well as online in the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin ― states where Trump and his supporters tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election, which he lost."
In its press release, the Republican Accountability Project's executive director Sarah Longwell explained why the ad and the hearings are equally significant. “Donald Trump’s lies about the 2020 election lit the spark that caused the January 6 attack,” said Longwell. “It’s time for the American people to hear the truth.”
