Watch: Stephen Colbert torches Trump-backed candidate's outrageous plan on gun control
Stephen Colbert had a comical assessment when he weighed in on Herschel Walker's proposed plan for gun control following the tragic mass shooting that took place at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas.
On Thursday, May 26, Colbert broke down Walker's outrageous suggestions making it clear just how farfetched it actually is.
Walker, a Georgia Republican candidate running for the U.S. Senate who has received major support from former President Donald Trump, claimed the emphasis should be placed on the shooter and not guns. During an appearance on "Fox & Friends," Walker offered his own assessment of the shooting and the massacre as he suggested that there needs to be “a department that can look at young men that’s looking at women, that’s looking at their social media ― what about doing that?”
"We need to get into what happened to him, why, by putting money in mental health. Have people thought about that?" Walker said, referring to the 18-year-old mass shooter in Uvalde, Texas. "We've gotta get back into prayer. People thinking now praying is bad. No, it's not bad. We need to pray for things like that. We need to continue to go out and fight, continue to take your constitutional rights away, and I think we can't do that."
Colbert quickly mocked the former football player for failing to focus on the real problem that greatly contributed to the shooter's ability to carry out such a heinous crime: guns.
“Yeah, what about doing that?” Colbert said. “It’s high time to create the Federal Bureau Of Looking At Young Men Who Are Looking At Women Who Are Looking At Social Media.”
Colbert's team also incorporated a parody logo for the comedic and ficticious organization.
